Dark Roast

pour-over coffee carafe
at dawn

watching grounds
rise and fall

before tipping
the kettle again

every ten seconds
time enough

to think
how in a trillion years

the last red dwarf
runs out of fuel

no heat
no light
no life

cold, dark, silence
the age of stars over

no cream
no sugar
